The Warsaw arena has been a source of pride for DD for my entire life. Thats where I played. We must invest in it.
One of my biggest lessons in life came at the Warsaw arena at a 6 am hockey practice. We were peewees? , just starting to do bodychecks and our coach Phil Lowry said “Peter, you must be the best bodychecker in the world”. At least that’s how I remember it. He lined all my teammates up along the boards. He said “Peter you skate across the ice and give a bodycheck into the other boards, to show everyone how it’s properly done.” With my ego pumped up I started to skate across the ice, gathering speed never before seen at the peewee level. Just as I reached the boards, preparing to inflict pain into those boards, I tripped. I believe the phrase is “A** over teakettle”. I could hear the laughter from across the ice. That’s the day I learned to be humble.
The Warsaw arena teaches you life lessons.
